«The safety of our staff in the work place is both a fundamental ethical necessity as well as one of the most important performance criteria for our firm. », A. Abarro .

Safety is genuinely a strong value in our group. Based on accountability, participation and involvement of all the actors, our approach to safety aims for “Safety first and Zero tolerance”.

Our approach to safety is made up of 10 fundamental principles which include the following:

 there is always the possibility of avoiding an accident, therefore all accidents can be avoided;

 the responsibility, for avoiding all accidents lies with management;

 training, skills development and implementation of best practice in the operating crafts are the main pillars which ensure safety;

 it is management's duty to audit the level of safety at work in all units on a regular basis: constant action to improve staff behavior through safety audits and immediate righting of malfunctions;

 senior management reviews and the inclusion of safety aspects in projects right from their inception in the laboratory right through to industrial design.

The periodic audits of the approach to safety and the prevention system, carried out by experts, are a means of improving indicators thanks to effective actions being undertaken.

Each mining and industrial site has a works medical structure, whose role is to provide leadership in prevention in terms of ergonomics and hygiene and carry out the follow-up, monitoring and protection of the personnel against nuisances and risk of disease.
